Time for Spring Break (#34)

Hope springs eternal not only for warmer weather and freedom from the pandemic, but for a mid-semester break for counselors, educators, and administrators. Whether you’re still in school or on vacation, we offer a short reminder of why sharing your stories helps us all cope with the school year.

Hey, everyone! Welcome to the Spring Break edition of Encouraging Words for School Counselors. I’m Matt Fleck with Inspire Success.

I know it may not be spring break where you are, but just thinking about spring break — the hope that spring brings — it’s so uplifting, so why not think spring? And where I am, the weather has been warmer this past week plus there seems to be better and better news each day about Covid vaccinations, so I’m optimistic (and I hope you are, too).

See if you can identify with this scenario. Have you ever led a virtual meeting over Zoom or Google Meet or Teams and after you do your introduction, you can’t get anyone at all to speak? They’re all just looking at you through their screens and there’s that awkward feeling that makes you want to say, “Can someone please talk?” Well, that’s me and this podcast.

We love your feedback, we love your stories, but without you, we’re kind of just a digital abstraction. So…you probably know where this is going…we would love to HEAR from you in one or all of the following ways:

  • First, by sharing a funny or touching story with us which you can just write down and send via email and we’ll read it. Send it to matt@inspiresuccess.org. Or record on our digital online soundbooth at inspiresuccess.org/soundbooth.
  • Second, give us a short review on your favorite podcast app where you listen to us.
  • Or third, share this podcast on your favorite social media such as Facebook, or Twitter, or Instagram, or any of the others. And let others know that you are listening.

We are so fortunate to have listeners from every state in the US, even though we haven’t heard from some of you – like, are there no counselors with touching stories from California or Texas or Maine? In other words, we’d love to hear from you.

We also have listeners in nine other countries including New Zealand which I hope to visit some day.

As always, we thank you for listening to us. Remember to share YOUR good stories with us, so we can share them with others. And if you’re headed to spring break, you lucky dog, have a relaxing and rejuvenating time. So long!
